Why did the Clogger boot hook change from metal to plastic?

The old metal hook faced upwards and snagged on things especially throw lines. We custom-developed the new plastic hook so it would work facing down removing the snagging issue. Using a mould/plastic was the only way to get the right shape so the hook would stay attached when facing down.
